Day 3

Day 3: Students will go over sine cosine and tangent inverses as well as define the sine and cosine of complementary angles. Complimentary angles are two angles that add up to 90 degrees. If you find one of the angles of a triangle using cosine, you can find the other angle of the riangle by doing 90 minus the angle you just found. The other angle is a 90 degree angle because it is a right triangle so 90 plus 90 equals 180 degrees ( the number of degrees in a triangle).

Quiz:

1. If one angle of a right triangle is 55 degrees, how many degrees does the other angle have in it?
2. Find the angle of a triangle that has a hypotenuse of 8 and an adjacent side of 4. Then find the degrees of the other angle using complementary angles.
3. Find the angle of a triangle that has a hypotenuse of 10 and an opposite side of 5. Then find the degrees of the other angle using complementary angles.

Answer Key:

1.
The other angle has 35 degrees in it.

2.
The two angles are 59.99 degrees and 30.01 degrees.

3.
The two angles are 30 degrees and 60 degrees.
